Specialist care provider London Care is looking forward to supporting children and young people in the Enfield area after being selected to provide home care and home sitting services on behalf of the local council.
London Care has secured inclusion on Enfield Council’s Select List for Home Care and Home Sitting Services for Disabled Children and Young People for the next two years after successfully meeting the borough’s tough criteria on skills, experience and resources.
There are around 150 children and young people likely to use the services of providers on the Select List and individual parents will make the decision on whether to call on London Care’s services. Many of the children and young people are profoundly disabled, with complex health needs.
London Care will provide home care, which includes some personal care, in family homes. The service is usually provided for a time-limited period, around a time of transition such as the birth of a baby, surgery or a significant change in a child’s behaviour.
Home sitting support will provide care and support for children, and often their siblings, at home so that family members can go out on errands or for other activities, secure in the knowledge that their children are being appropriately and well looked after.
Max Wurr, London Care’s Head of Policy and Contracting, said, “The service will aim to improve a family’s ability to live well with their disabled child and to ensure that both the children and their families feel safe and happy with our careworkers. Our approach is holistic, supporting the whole family.
“In the long-term, it is hoped that our support will help disabled children to acquire skills that will enable them to live more independently, both as children and then as adults. The service will also serve a crucial role in offering respite to parents and other carers.”
London Care’s inclusion on the Select List follows its securing of a three-year service contract with Enfield Council last month to provide personal care to around 350 residents in the Enfield Highway, Enfield Lock, Jubilee, Lower Edmonton, Ponders End and Turkey Street wards of the borough.
